Take a photo tour of the changes that have taken place since "The Great Movie Ride" closed.
This past Sunday, August 13th was the final day of operation for the last of the opening day attractions of Disney's Hollywood Studios, or as some of us remember it, Disney-MGM Studios. And with it's closure, Disney wasted no time with the rebranding process.
When we visited Monday morning just after park opening, there was a noticeable absence of all things GMR. Disney moved quickly to update the area and post announcements of the new attraction that's moving into the Chinese Theater.
First up, new posters have been added announcing the new attraction "Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway." To the right of the former main entrance you have a picture of Mickey. On the opposite side you the same poster, replacing Mickey with Minnie.
Another change is that the TCM sponsorship portion of the neon marquees have been removed. While the signs still remain, that specific part has been removed.
Where the main entrance queue once had its home under the words "The Great Movie Ride" is now home to a A-Frame sign with another announcement poster.
Another change, though small, are these signs tacked up against the front doors of the theater. This used to be the GMR FastPass entrance.
The courtyard will remain open with access to the celebrity hand prints through the construction, with the only area being boarded up is the former standby entrance.
There's another A-frame found at the exit.
The final change you'll find is the photo op found towards the exit. There's now a cartoon backdrop showing off Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto with a few "Hidden Mickeys" thrown in.
That wraps things up here at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We'll keep you posted when more changes come.
