Something new appeared at Disney Springs today, and I gave it the name “Bubbles the Pin Trading Trashcan.”
Those creatives at Disney are always dreaming up new and exciting experiences for the guests, and while this isn’t the hottest new ride technology that’s being showcased... it sure does make ya smile.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls... allow me to introduce to you a new friend I met (and named) today at Disney Springs; Bubbles the Pin Trading Trash Can. He's a brand new addition to the Town Center and he just made his first public debut.
This is the first of 3 mobile units that will appear daily in the different neighborhoods of Disney Springs including Town Center, West Side and the Marketplace. Here's the breakdown of the in's and out's
- Unlike the former "PUSH" interactive trash can that used to roam around Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom, this one has to be manually pushed to and from it's location.
- It has a remote control - the remote only operates the bubble machine.
- 3 of the 4 sides have pin trading boards attached. The remaining side is storage for additional bubble solution, Disney Parks Celebration Buttons, and small items such as Disney Springs maps
- Bubbles is not a real trash can. Yes it looks like one, and built into frame of a familiar Walt Disney World trash can, but the flap opposite of the bubble machine is sealed shut.
From the short time I observed Bubbles, it seemed like it was a hit. The kids loved it (obviously - bubbles are to kids as squirrels are to Dug from Up!) and it seemed to pulled pin traders out of nowhere... and that's the beauty of this experience! It's simple, adorable, and people were genuinely drawn to it. I mean, who wouldn't smile at a trash can blowing bubbles?
Keep your eyes peeled for Bubbles and his siblings the next time you visit Disney Springs.
