Disney Announces Opening Dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

If you’re anything like us, you have been bookmarking flights and hotels just waiting for Disney to announce their opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World! The wait is over and we’re happy to let you know that Star Wars Land will be opening its doors on May 31st at Disneyland and August 29th at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.

How to Attend Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge:

If you’re planning on visiting Disneyland for it’s opening days between May 31st and June 23rd, you’ll need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation to access the land. These reservations will be subject to availability so be sure to stay attentive! Disney plans to release more information on booking an experience at Star Wars at a later date on both Disneyland.com and on the Disney Parks Blog

Good news for hotel guests: Those staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay. Valid theme park admission is required. 

What to Expect on Disneyland’s Opening Day:

Star Wars will be opening in phases with phase one transporting guests into the “remote planet of Bantuu.” Phase two will open up with the second ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, later in the year. This ride places you right in the middle of the Rebellion and gives you an active role in the fight against the First Order, including a faceoff with Kylo Ren.

Located on the Outer Rim of the galaxy and on the frontier of Wild Space, Bantuu is home to the smugglers, traders, and adventurers who are looking to avoid trouble with the First Order. Here we can expect to run into familiar faces like Rey, Finn, BB-8, and Chewie. We’ll be able to experience all of the galactic food and beverages as well as explore merchant shops. 

Play Disney Parks Gets an Upgrade

There will also be interactions available on the Play Disney Parks mobile app that will deepen the engagement within the land. Making choices on the app will lead you into either fighting alongside the Resistance or taking commands in the First Order - both of which can alter your adventures as you travel through the land. The app will also translate galactic language, find what’s hidden in crates and containers, and allow you to interact with screens, ships, door panels, and more. 

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Best of all, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run experience will be open to guests! Here you’ll be able to take the controls and fly the most famous ship in the galaxy! You can take on one of three critical roles as the ship travels throughout space: a pilot, a gunner, or a flight engineer. This creates multiple ways for you to experience the attraction and keeps you coming back take on the other roles! 

Diverse Food and Beverage Options

If you’re looking for the typical hot dogs and hamburgers, take a sharp turn out of this galaxy! At Galaxy’s Edge, we can finally savor some blue milk as we walk through a bustling street market filled with an array of unique foods and beverages. 

Kat Saka’s Kettle

Offers freshly popped grains with a combination of sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.

Oga’s Cantina

An exotic bar where you can share your adventurous tales of the galaxy. Beverages will be served in unique drinking vessels while music provided by DJ R-3X plays throughout. That’s right, your favorite robot Rex from Star Tours will be the cantina DJ! 

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

This multi-purpose transport shuttle will beckon guests to try the culinary creations of Chef Strono. He is proud to present Tugg’s Grub, a “traveling diner for diners traveling.”

Ronto Roasters

This engine-powered barbecue pit will feature mouth-watering Ronto Wraps! A former smelter droid will be carefully turning a spit of meats as you line up to order your meal. There will also be a variety of non-alcoholic drink available here.

Milk Stand

Here you’ll be able to enjoy both the famed Blue Milk introduced in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Green Milk introduced in Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. 

A Ton of New Merchandise!

New merchandise from will be offered at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with extraordinary experiences attached to them to make them more than your average shopping experience. Alongside the stores below, you’ll find the Creature Stall for a variety of rare and fascinating creatures, Black Spire Outfitters for out of this world apparel, and the Toydarian Toymaker for fun toys. 

You will be able to show loyalty to your “side” by the clothes and accessories you purchase within the land at either Resistance Supply or First Order Cargo. 

The Droid Depot

Droid Depot will allow you to create your own astromech droid by picking parts and pieces off of a conveyor belt. Choose from the R-Series or the BB-Series and different parts and colors. These droids will interact with different elements in the land and a variety of programming chips and accessories can be added to further customize to them. Pre-built droids and droid inspired products will be sold here as well. 

Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers

Guests can customize and craft their own lightsabers in this workshop and have the ability to feel the Force!

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiques

Here you will find a selection of rare and mysterious items for sale from different eras of the Star Wars galaxy. Holocrons, ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, lightsabers, and more will be available for purchase. You’ll even be able to see Dok rummaging through inventory, taking calls, and barking orders at his assistants. 

The Music is Nothing Less Than Iconic

Music always has played a large part in the Star Wars galaxy and will continue throughout Galaxy’s Edge. You can expect to enjoy both classics from John Williams along with new music from composers and songwriters from around the globe.
