With the worldwide impact of the Coronavirus outbreak and as a response to the Governor of California’s request to close all businesses and events with 250 guests or more, The Walt Disney Company has set the theme park example and closed down every single one of it’s park locations across the globe. Cast members will be compensated during closing.

This is the first time in history there will not be a single Disney park open in the world! While that is devastating to hear at first, we are proud of the Walt Disney Company for sacrificing an estimated billions of dollars in an effort to help protect everyone involved! Truly an admirable moment.

When do the scheduled closures begin?

Disneyland & California Adventure - March 14-Until further notice

Walt Disney World - March 16-Until further notice

Disneyland Paris - March 16-Until further notice

Disney Cruise Line - Suspending all new departures beginning on March 14th until March 31st.

Tokyo Disney Sea - Feb 28 - Until further notice

Shanghai Disneyland - Jan 25 - Until further notice

Hong Kong Disneyland - Jan 26 - Until further notice

All of the reopening dates are subject to change as it truly depends on the conditions of the virus after the time has passed. Hopefully, the world will heal a bit more as we move into April.

At Walt Disney World

Paid in Full Passholders

Passports paid in full and that are valid during the closure period will have their passport expiration date automatically extended based on pass type level of access due to impacts of the closure. The extended date will be automatically reflected on your Passport account before the reopening.

As an alternative, passholders who paid in full also have the option to get a partial refund for the amount of time that the parks remained closed.

At this time, Disney has not yet created a system that will allow you to choose your annual passholder option but we will keep you updated when they do!

Monthly Payment Passholders

Annual Passholders on the monthly payment program will have all payments made from March 16th - April 4th refunded and all future payments will remain suspended. Monthly payment annual passholders will have a choice of whether to extend their passes or have their passes expire on their original expiration date.

Those looking for an extension will have payments postponed until the parks reopening. Once the parks reopen, passholders will have their contract extended and the annual pass will have a new expiration date.

Those not looking for an extension will have all payments stopped and their passes will expire as they usually would.

At this time, Disney has not created a system that will allow you to choose an option. For more information on that, please check out our more detailed article here.

Disney Flex Passholders will have reservations canceled for the duration of the closure without penalty.

Can I change my travel plans?

Yes! Disney is working with guests to make travel changes and move dates around. As you can imagine, call volume is very high and you may be on hold for a while. Please remain patient and polite as cast members are working hard to make everyone happy during this stressful time.
