UPDATE: All Walt Disney World Construction Projects STOP During Coronavirus Closure

According to an article published by the Orlando Business Journal, Walt Disney World has shut down all construction projects in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus within its workforce. This comes after the CDC’s recommendation that gatherings of more than 10 should be cancelled immediately.

Walt Disney World’s last day open was on March 16th and has since been progressing with their ongoing projects as seen from numerous overhead helicopter photos. Most onlookers assumed that the good news out of this closure would bring Disney parks closer to completion and bring a ton of new experiences to fruition when the park finally opens.

However, the new CDC guidelines mean that all work on the new Cinderella’s Castle 50th Anniversary Overlay, TRON Lightcycle Coaster, the transformation of Epcot, and many more projects will have to come to a halt and we may not see them once the park reopens.

At this time, Disney themselves has not made a comment on how this will affect opening dates for the new attractions to come. There is also no time estimate as to how long the parks worldwide will be closed. At this time, the nation is looking at around 8-12 weeks (2-3 months) for theme parks to start reopening.
