This classic Disney attraction is getting an upgrade in 2021 at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort! Disney Parks uploaded a video to their YouTube channel giving us a sneak peek into the “magical enhancements” that will be coming to this ride.
With these changes, Disney has promised to stay true to the fun and lighthearted nature of the Jungle Cruise and not veer too far off course when it comes to making jokes and driving botes. No official release date or refurbishment dates have been announced for these changes.
Here’s some of what we can expect to see with the new changes (plus some cool concept art):
New Story Line
We all know that your skipper has always been played by a live experienced guide, with great jokes at that, but now the skippers will also be represented by show figures in the attraction itself.
Bringing back some old favorites
If you are a longtime fan of this attraction, you may know that there are some known boats that no longer float along the river in the Jungle Cruise. In this new update, boats Mekong Maiden and Kwango Kate may be making a comeback! They just might look a bit different since you last saw them as lots of monkey business will be occurring - according to the concept art below!
New updates to classic scenes
The group of explorers climbing up the pole is a scene that every Jungle Cruise fan knows and is a staple in the attraction. To tie in the new story line, it looks like there will be an update to this scene based on the concept art shown in the video. Maybe those will be the people that were stranded from the Kwango Kate? We will have to see!
This was definitely a spoiler and not a lot of details were released but knowing Disney and from what Imagineer and former skipper Kevin said, we will have more concept art and information in the coming months! Very exciting!
For more information, watch Imagineer and former Skipper, Kevin Lively, explain what we can expect with these new changes!
What do you think about this new update? Are you excited to see what it has in store or are you wanting it to stay as is? Either way, we will definitely have to ride Jungle Cruise one last time before the changes and again, after the changes have been made!
