Our favorite fire breathing dragon is back in action at Walt Disney World’s Festival of Fantasy parade in Magic Kingdom! That’s right - Maleficent has returned. She has always been one of the biggest highlights of Festival of Fantasy ever since it’s debut and has truly made the parade a memorable experience since then.
If you’ve never seen the Festival of Fantasy parade, now is the time! The 12 minute parade is filled with fantastical costume designs, massive detailed floats, and all of your favorite Disney characters. Maleficent’s steampunk look and show-stopping pyrotechnics makes the parade definite must do at Magic Kingdom, and we can’t wait to see her stomping her way through the parks yet again!
After Maleficent’s unfortunate accident in May 2018, the float went down for maintenance and repair. Her fire breathing magic was a little too strong, causing her to burst into flames during one of the Spring time parades. Luckily no one was hurt in the incident however, Maleficent seemed to take damage both inside and out and definitely looked like she needed extensive repair. We were personally worried that the dragon would not ever be making a return! We all know that Walt Disney World usually does not take second chances after dangerous malfunctions. We’re glad to see that they decided to give her another chance anyway and brought her back with all of her fire breathing greatness!
Not only will Maleficent be making a return, we’ll also see Fauna, Flora, Merryweather, Prince Phillip, and Maleficent’s dancing ravens making a comeback. Make sure you grab a Times Guide on your next visit to the Magic Kingdom to find out when you see this fire breathing dragon for yourself!
And for a limited time while you wait, be sure to grab a Maleficent Cone too! This was a hit during the 2018 Halloween season and is made up of a rich chocolate cone, some lime dole whip, and chocolate candy horns. You can get your hands on one at Storybook Treats in Fantasyland.
